Legacy Editor - Add an Anchor Tag

Note: Authors can add, but cannot publish. 

 

 

Overview 

An anchor tag is a tag or hyperlink that you can attach to a word or phrase on your webpage. You can use anchor tags to direct readers down to a different section on the same page.

Important Note

Instructions

  1. Navigate to the page you want to set an anchor on
  2. Ensure that Live Edit Is On

  3. Scroll to desired tag location on your page
  4. Click into the Legacy Editor widget

  5. Click on the HTML View
    select_the_HTML_view.jpg
  6. Add <a href="#name"> next to the anchor text (the link)

    • Note: Replace "name" with a more specific anchor name. Be sure to keep the #.
  7. Add <a name="name"</a> next to your destination (where you want the link to go)

    • Note: Replace name with a more specific anchor name. Be sure to keep the quotation marks around the name.
  8. Click Done Editing at the top of the page
    select_done_editing.jpg
  9. Ensure that only one of your anchor pieces is a link
    ensure_that_one_anchor_piece_is_a_link.jpg
  10. Click Save at the top of the page
    select_save_to_save_page_changes.jpg
  11. Test in Preview Mode make sure your anchor pieces work properly
