Failed Packet Generation Error

Who can use this feature?

When you publish an agenda in the Agenda Center module and receive an error that the system could not generate the packet, the error message should indicate which file is causing the error.

This can occur due to a corrupted file but generally happens because there is a special character in the file name of the named document.

The PDF and HTML versions of your agenda will be available, but the packet fails to create and will not publish until all documents are recognized and working.

To fix this error, you will need to remove the document with special characters, rename it, and attach it back to the agenda.

Best Practice

We recommend that all filenames throughout the site (including folders, documents, and images) contain no spaces and use only the dash - character. Any other special characters may create a conflict.

  1. Attempt to Create an Agenda
  2. Select a Save option
    • Save: Saves changes
    • Save and Publish: Saves changes and publishes the agenda
    • Publish and Add to Calendar: Saves changes, publishes the agenda, adds the agenda to your calendar
  3. Failed error pop-up will display; click OK
    • Note: Make sure to take note of the document listed in the error message.
  4. Scroll down and click Choose File
  5. Select the desired document again
  6. Right-click and select Rename
  7. Rename the document without any special characters
  8. Select the document again
  9. Click Open
  10. Scroll up and choose your desired Save option again
  11. Select OK or Cancel to include or exclude in RSS Feeds
  12. A notification window will open; your options to send the notification include
    • Comments: Attach a brief description of the new agenda
    • Mobile Text/Push Message: Attach a message to the SMS notification
    • * Include link to item: Provides a link to the item within the SMS message for a user to select via their mobile device
    • Send
      • On Meeting Date: Sends the agenda on the meeting date previously set
      • Immediately: Sends the agenda immediately
      • X Number of Days in Advance: Enter the number of days prior to the meeting date to send the agenda
    • Include New or Modified status in email subject: Select this box to include the agenda's status in email notifications
    • Select Send, Don’t Send, or Cancel: The notification will then send accordingly to those who have signed up in Notify Me for the selected Agenda category
