Absolute vs. Relative Links

Overview

There are two types of links that can be used when you create hyperlinks online: Absolute and Relative.

Absolute Links contain the entire URL seen in the URL bar.

For example:

Relative Links contain only the portion after the domain name. Relative links are only operational if the destination of the link is the same domain the link is on.

For example:

  • /Admin
  • /page/Name
  • /module/item
