Overview

This page will show you how to Disable Inheritance on subpage containers. When you disable inheritance, the container/appearance/layout will not inherit a format from the immediate parent page. This will allow you to create new appearance layouts, or allow inheritance from a different parent page.

 

Instructions

  1. Navigate to your desired page
  2. Ensure that Live Edit Is On
    ensure_that_live_edit_is_on.jpg
  3. Hover over the container that you want to disable inheritance for
    hover_over_widget_container.jpg
  4. Click the Lock button
    select_container_inheritance_options.jpg
  5. Select Stop Inheritance

  6. Select a new option
    select_a_container_inheritance_option.jpg
    • Start with Existing Content or an Empty Container: Reverts to content inside the container from before inheritance; if no content existed, retains the current appearance
    • Start with a Copy of the Current Container: Retains the current appearance
    • Cancel: Cancel 'Stop Inheritance'
  7. Hover back over the container and click the Widget Options button

  8. Select a new Skin

  9. New skin will automatically update

  10. Click X to exit the Widget options pop-up

  11. Click Save at the top of the page
    select_save_to_save_page.jpg
